ハカランダ、スイス・スプルースのギター

Old Brasil rosewood from salvage . Fingerboard also of jacaranda .

Top of ‘ Moonwood ‘ Swiss spruce , called moonwood because it is cut at the small of the moon . Top French polished with Kusmi lac . The purflings are of an exceptionally white Swiss maple wood . The rosette is a recent design and manufacture of mine and this is the first guitar I am using it in .

It is usually the case that strips for mosaic part of rosette is cut with a saw . I use a sharp Japanese hand plane , and also a Japanese machine , to cut strips . My shavings are the strips . There is little waste . Japanese artisans and tool makers , I admire them .

とても古いハカランダを使用しています。指板もハカランダです。表板は、ムーンウッドと呼ばれるスイス・スプルースを使用しています。月が新月に近いときに切られる木なのでムーンウッドと呼ばれるようです。パーフリングにはスイス・メープルを使用しています。ロゼッタは、最近私がデザインしたもので、初めてクラシックギターに使ってみました。表板の塗装のみセラック塗装で仕上げてあります。

ロゼッタを作るときに使う木の細片は、のこで切るのが一般的ですが、私は日本のかんなと日本製の機械を使います。そのほうが材料を無駄にすることがありません。日本の職人技とそれを支える工具は本当に素晴らしいと思っています。
